Elyria police blotter for Oct. 6, 2021

Elyria police Tuesday, Sept. 14 10:38 a.m. — Detroit Road, Sheffield, warrant service. David Hary Sr., 32, West River Road North, was arrested on a bench warrant for contempt of court through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2019 criminal case. He was taken to Lorain County Jail. 11:53 a.m. — Lorain County Jail, warrant service. Dante Tilman, 35, Warden Avenue, was arrested on a bench warrant for contempt of court through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2019 traffic case. 1:22 p.m. — Washington Avenue, domestic violence. Timothy Haddix Jr., 32, Melvyn Lane, was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge and a misdemeanor assault charge. Haddix got into an argument with his 30-year-old live-in girlfriend and hit her in the face five times. He also bit her right arm. She had a bloody lip, a scrape on her forehead and a bruised bite mark on her arm. The victim refused treatment. Haddix was later found standing in the front yard of his house, taken into custody and to Lorain County Jail. The domestic violence charge is a felony because Haddix was convicted of domestic violence in Lorain Municipal Court in 2011. 4:15 p.m. — 11th Street, possession of drug abuse instruments. William Evans Jr., 52, Parkview Court, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug abuse instruments and disorderly conduct by intoxication. Officers found Evans passed out on the sidewalk in the 400 block of 11th Street. He appeared intoxicated and was evaluated and cleared by LifeCare paramedics at the scene. Evans was arrested for his own safety and well being and taken to Lorain County Jail. 9:33 p.m. — Garden Street, child endangering. Selina Branham, 20, Garden Street, was arrested on two counts of child endangering, both misdemeanors. After a 3-year-old girl was found walking in the roadway in the 1100 block of Garden Street, officers learned her mother, Branham, was "at a friend's house" and had left her children asleep while she was "only gone a few minutes." Lorain County Children Services was notified and the children picked up by their grandmother. Branham was taken to Lorain County Jail. Monday, Sept. 13 8:30 a.m. — North Pasadena Avenue, disorderly conduct. Michael Corrado, 41, North Pasadena Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. Corrado had an argument with his wife, who wanted him to leave their house. As he did so, with officers, children and neighbors present, he began "yelling and screaming obscenities." Officers told him to stop but he ignored them, so he was arrested and taken to Lorain County Jail. 9:58 a.m. — Oberlin Road, domestic violence. Ashley Chambers, 26, Oberlin Road, and Erica Chambers, 20, North Ridgeville, were arrested: Ashley Chambers on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges and Erica Chambers on misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges. Officers found the women arguing with a 26-year-old man who said he was trying to move out of the apartment, but that Ashley Chambers had stopped him. As officers were standing there, both Ashley and Erica Chambers punched the man in the chest, were arrested and taken to Lorain County Jail. While awaiting her turn to be booked there, Ashley Chambers told officers she "only hit (the victim) because her sister hit him first." 8:06 p.m. — State Route 57, warrant service. Robert Baker, 27, Massillon, was arrested on a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. Baker was a passenger in a silver Pontiac, which had no rear license plate, that was stopped by officers. A records search showed Baker had a warrant out for his arrest and he was turned over to the custody of a deputy sheriff.
