ODOT, Lorain city engineers: Multiple construction projects starting Tuesday

Multiple construction projects will start in Lorain County on Tuesday, focused on the areas of Avon and Sheffield, as well as Columbia and Henrietta townships, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced. Two streets in Lorain also will be closed for 60 days starting next week for road construction, the Lorain Engineering Department announced. Avon/Sheffield State Route 254/Detroit Road, between Route 301/North Abbe Road in Sheffield and Case Road in Avon, will close for three days for railroad crossing repairs starting Tuesday and continuing through Friday. The detour route for eastbound motorists will be Route 254 to Route 301, north on Route 301 to Route 611, east on Route 611 to Route 254, and reverse for westbound motorists, ODOT said. Lorain G Street between Colorado and Iowa avenues will be closed to through traffic starting at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday for 60 days for road construction, according to the city's engineering department. Also, King Avenue between West Erie Avenue and West 11th Street will be closed to through traffic starting at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, for 60 days, also for road construction per city engineers. On-street parking will be banned on G Street and King Avenue during construction, but local traffic will be maintained and detour signs posted. Columbia Township Route 252/East River Road, between Squire and Emmons roads, will close Tuesday for construction of a drilled shaft wall. The detour route for southbound motorists will be Route 252 to Route 82, west on Route 82 to Route 83, south on Route 83 to Route 303, east on Route 303 to Route 252, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is scheduled to be completed on or about Sept. 30, ODOT said. Henrietta Township The intersection of Route 113 and Baumhart Road will close Tuesday for an intersection improvement project that will convert the current intersection to a single-lane roundabout. The detour route for eastbound motorists on Route 113 will be Route 113 east to Route 60, north on Route 60 to Route 2, east on Route 2 to Route 58, south on Route 58 to Route 113, and reverse for westbound motorists, ODOT said. The detour route for northbound motorists on Baumhart Road will be Baumhart Road north to Route 511, east on Route 511 to Route 58, north on Route 58 to Route 2, west on Route 2 to Baumhart Road, and reverse for southbound motorists. The project is scheduled to be completed on or about Nov. 21, ODOT said.
