Jacquelyn Rae 'Jackie' Verda

Jacquelyn Rae 'Jackie' Verda (nee Ternes), 55, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at her home unexpectedly following a lengthy illness. She was born May 14, 1966 in Elyria. Jackie worked as a Para-Professional assisting special needs children for Oberlin, Midview and Elyria Schools. She enjoyed spending time with family, camping, sprint car races, motocross races and was a big Harry potter fan. She had many winning years showing horses locally and nationally. Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Mike; sons, Will (Brianne) Lundy, Aaron Mitchell, Chris Verda; daughters, Ashley (Caleb) Gross, Jamie Verda; grandchildren, Cameron and CJ; brothers, Jay Hershey and Mike Hershey; sister, Shelly Hershey (Tom Burrer); her sweet niece, Kate Hershey and her constant companion dog, Lucy too. Jackie was preceded in death by her DAD, Bill Hershey in 2002. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at St. Rt. 57), Elyria, 440-322-4626, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2021. Burial will be in North Ridgeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jackie's name to the Elyria Schools Special Olympics, 42101 Griswold Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
