Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville police blotters for July 22 to Aug. 1, 2021

Avon police Friday, July 30 11:39 p.m. — 2900 block Hayes Street, disturbance. Police were called to a disturbance between neighbors. After police spoke with the involved parties, one group was going to go to the station to file a report. They never arrived at the station, according to a police field case report. One 42-year-old Avon woman was to be charged with disorderly conduct - offensive gesture and public indecency exposure that allegedly occurred in the presence of officers. Saturday, July 31 9:25 p.m. — 35900 block Chester Road, theft. An 18-year-old Avon Lake woman was detained by Walmart loss prevention in connection with the shoplifting of $31.63 worth of store merchandise. Avon police cited her with misdemeanor theft and released her on scene. Sunday, August 1 3:58 a.m. — 1500 block Crab Apple Lane, robbery. A 53-year-old Avon man reported that he had been accosted by three unknown males who took his cell phone from his hand and threw it against a building. The suspects were gone when police arrived. An uninvolved juvenile later found the man's phone in the area and returned it to him. 4:32 p.m. — 35900 block Chester Road, theft. Walmart loss prevention detained a 34-year-old Elyria woman in connection with the theft of $119.98 worth of store merchandise, including children's toys and clothing. The woman was cited for misdemeanor theft, given a court date and released to her family on scene. 10:53 p.m. — 37800 block Chester Road, operating vehicle while under the influence. A vehicle was found on fire in the Timberlake Townhomes complex. In connection with the situation, police arrested a 71-year-old Avon man for OVI and OVI with breath .17 percent or greater. Avon Lake police Thursday, July 22 9:38 a.m. — Avon Lake police station, identity fraud. An Avon Lake man went to the police station to report that his ex-wife accessed his Bureau of Motor Vehicles account online using his personal information without his consent. Sunday, July 25 10:56 a.m. — 300 block Greenbriar Drive, theft. A caller told police that his trifold wallet was taken from his unlocked vehicle while he was visiting family members in Avon Lake. Wednesday, July 28 2:29 a.m. — Avon Point Avenue and Walker Road, suspicious activity. Three vehicles, including two identified in a case narrative as a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S550 and a 2020 Lincoln Aviator, fled from Avon Lake police. The owner of the Lincoln was later contacted and told police it had been stolen. The following morning, an Avon Lake resident reported his 2017 Honda Pilot stolen. 9:46 p.m. — 100 block Avon Belden Road, vandalism. Police identified three Avon Lake boys, ages 14 to 15, who were suspected of vandalizing tech equipment, lights and covers inside Avon Lake Memorial Stadium. Police contacted the parents of the boys to inform them of the situation. They were to be referred to juvenile court for possible criminal charges, according to a case narrative from police. Friday, July 30 12:49 a.m. — Avon Belden Road and Ryeberry Lane, traffic investigation. After seeing a vehicle driving northbound on Avon Belden Road with no lights on at night, an officer pulled it over. The driver, an 18-year-old Bay Village man, was cited and given a court date for a headlights violation and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. 9:07 p.m. — Electric Boulevard and Herrmann Drive, operating vehicle while under the influence. Police were advised that a motorist was likely impaired while driving in circles without headlights on Lake Road, Electric Boulevard and several connecting side streets. Oncoming traffic had to avoid being struck by the erratic motorist until the vehicle stopped when police arrived, according to a police case narrative. The driver, a 60-year-old Avon Lake woman, was taken into custody and charged with OVI. Saturday, July 31 5:14 p.m. — 33400 block Webber Road, property damage. An officer found the sign at Weiss Field to be broken in half. Fragments of a 2018 Ford Focus were recovered at the scene. North Ridgeville police Wednesday, July 28 6:29 p.m. — Root Road and Bainbridge Road, operating vehicle while under the influence. Police stopped a vehicle following a traffic complaint. An officer smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath. The 48-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested after a series of field sobriety tests, and later cited for OVI and excess BAC (breath .17 percent or greater) at the police station. He was later released to a family member. Thursday, July 29 10:31 a.m. — North Ridgeville Police Department, telecommunications harassment. Police investigated an intimidation of a witness complaint involving North Ridgeville residents. A report was forwarded to the city prosecutor. Friday, July 30 6:20 p.m. — Center Ridge Road and Race Road, traffic investigation. North Ridgeville police became involved in the pursuit of a vehicle by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. A North Ridgeville officer was able to flatten the fleeing vehicle's passenger side tires with stop sticks, causing the tires to slowly deflate. The driver lost control and drove off the road, where he surrendered. The 35-year-old North Ridgeville man was charged by the Sheriff's Office with failure to comply, stolen license plate and several traffic offenses. Saturday, July 31 8:36 p.m. — 9000 block Avon Belden Road, disorderly conduct. Police arrested a 44-year-old North Ridgeville man for disorderly conduct by intoxication and criminal mischief at the 83 & Chestnut Pub and Eatery. He was given a summons into Elyria Municipal Court. 9:01 p.m. — 5900 block Main Ave., theft. A 71-year-old North Ridgeville man told police a prescription medication package was opened and the medication was missing.
