Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville police blotters for July 21-26, 2021

Avon police Saturday, July 24 1:58 a.m. — 39100 block Colorado Avenue, liquor offense. Police pulled over a 1999 Toyota 4Runner because the registered owner, a 51-year-old Avon man, was showing an active warrant from Lorain. He was issued a summons for an open container violation and transferred to the custody of the Lorain Police Department on the warrant. 2:47 a.m. — 2100 block Center Road, operating vehicle while under the influence. A 2017 Mazda 3 was pulled over for weaving and a red light violation. Police arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Elyria woman, for OVI. Sunday, July 25 2:13 a.m. — Chester Road and Colorado Avenue, operating vehicle while under the influence. Police stopped a 2013 Hyundai Sonata for numerous traffic violations. As a result of the stop, the driver, a 60-year-old Lorain man, was arrested for OVI and the passenger, a 30-year-old Lorain woman, was arrested for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. 6:41 p.m. — 33500 block Just Imagine Drive, operating vehicle while under the influence. An officer was called to the GetGo gas station for a two-vehicle crash. The at-fault driver, a 26-year-old Avon man, was arrested for OVI, OVI with breath greater than 0.17 percent and a right-of-way violation at a private driveway. Avon Lake police Wednesday, July 21 2:05 a.m. — Glenview Drive and Avon Belden Road, juvenile complaint. Four 13-year-old Avon Lake boys riding bikes without lights fled into backyards after seeing a police car. Police found the boys and contacted their parents. 6:11 p.m. — Avon Belden Road and Ryeberry Lane, traffic investigation. A 31-year-old Elyria man was taken into custody and transferred to the Elyria Police Department after it was learned during a traffic stop that he had an arrest warrant from that agency. Saturday, July 24 9:14 p.m. — 100 block Burton Street, assist other agency. Police were called to assist the Avon Lake Fire Department at the scene of a structure fire. The fire was inside a home and extinguished by firefighters without any injuries reported. Sunday, July 25 7:43 a.m. — 300 block Evergreen Court, stolen vehicle. An Avon Lake resident told police their Chrysler Pacifica was stolen overnight. The minivan was later recovered on East 91st Street in Cleveland. 9:49 a.m. — 100 block Norman Ave., stolen vehicle. An Avon Lake resident woke up and found her 2021 Toyota Rav4 missing. The car was entered as stolen. Monday, July 26 5:16 p.m. — Avon Lake police station, identity theft. An Avon Lake woman came to the police station and reported that someone used her social security number to rent an apartment in Michigan. North Ridgeville police Saturday, July 24 2:05 a.m. — 39200 block Center Ridge Road, operating vehicle while under the influence. An officer pulled over a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old North Ridgeville man for speeding. He was arrested for OVI as a result of the stop. 9:48 a.m. — 32700 block Lorain Road, theft. A 33-year-old Cleveland man was arrested on charges of attempted theft, possessing criminal tools, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after he was seen in a confrontation involving four men in the Motel 6 parking lot. 7:33 p.m. — 32300 block Lorain Road, operating vehicle while under the influence. Police were called to the Sheetz gas station for a male passed out in the driver's seat of his vehicle. Officers found the 30-year-old Fairview Park man to be under the influence and in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the police station after being charged with OVI and cited for the paraphernalia. Monday, July 26 10:58 p.m. — Sugar Ridge Road and Handyside Drive, property damage. A caller told North Ridgeville police their car was struck by BBs. Officers observed the vehicle and determined it had been struck twice by an apparent airsoft gun.
