Elyria police blotter for June 17-20, 2021

Elyria police Sunday, June 20 11:03 p.m. — 13th Street, weapons violations. Dominic Strader, 18, Ohio Street, and Christian Elder, 18, Third Street, were arrested — Strader on misdemeanor charges of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon and Elder on felony charges of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon. Officers responding to reports of five gunshots in the area of Middle Avenue and 14th Street found nothing, but returned 15 minutes later after a second report. Strader, Elder and two juveniles were inside a red car along with a black 9 mm Taurus G3 handgun, a 9 mm Glock 26 Gen 5 handgun and a black ballistic vest. Gunshot residue tests were performed on Strader and Elder and they were taken to Lorain County Jail. The juveniles were released at the scene. 7:32 p.m. — Bell Avenue and Lorain Boulevard, warrant service. Maurice Glinsey Jr., 23, Delaware Avenue, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant through the Sheffield Police Department. 4:47 p.m. — Sprucewood Inn, Lorain Boulevard, warrant service. Michael Romans, 50, Harrison Street, was arrested on a domestic violence warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. 4:27 p.m. — West River Road North, drug investigation. Michele Walters, 49, West River Road North, was arrested on felony charges of tampering with evidence, permitting drug abuse, possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine, a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and had a felony warrant through the Sandusky Police Department for felony cocaine possession. Officers responding to a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest found LifeCare bringing a patient out of a house in the 400 block of West River Road North after administering naloxone to stop an overdose. Walters surrendered cocaine and meth she had stashed in her bra and had a painkiller pill in her pocket. She admitted taking the drugs from the woman who overdosed so she wouldn't get into trouble. Walters was taken to Lorain County Jail. 1:31 p.m. — Lake Avenue and Sheriff Street, operating a vehicle impaired. Gary Wilson, 31, King Street, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of DUI, no driver's license, reckless operation and leaving the scene of an accident. Officers investigating a one-car crash found a red 2007 Nissan Altima crashed on private property on Lake Avenue. Wilson was found inside his King Street residence, appeared intoxicated, and refused sobriety and chemical tests. He was taken to Lorain County Jail. 3:46 a.m. — Tedman Court, warrant service. Denzel Derrico, 26, Idaho Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a bench warrant through Elyria Municipal Court charging him with misdemeanor obstructing in a 2021 criminal case and a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. Saturday, June 19 9:33 p.m. — Amherst Police Department, warrant service. Taylor Owens, 26, South Abbe Road, was issued a summons to appear in Elyria Municipal Court on a bench warrant in a 2017 criminal case. 4 p.m. — Fairlawn Avenue, theft. A 50-year-old Fairlawn Avenue man reported that someone stole two BMX bikes — one green and one chrome — that he had just recently purchased and were last seen on his porch at 10 p.m. the day before. Surveillance video from a neighbor showed two unknown individuals walk up to the victim's house and soon after ride away southbound on Fairlawn Avenue. 3:19 a.m. — Barbara Street, burglary. Darryel Watkins, 25, Barbara Street, was arrested on a felony burglary charge. The victim, a 19-year-old neighbor of Watkins, reported that Watkins entered her house without permission and broke her television. 3:03 p.m. — Barbara Street, trespass. Tiara Boone, 27, South Abbe Road, was issued a summons to appear in Elyria Municipal Court on a misdemeanor criminal trespass charge. Boone, who was banned from the Westway Gardens apartment complex, was found at a residence in the 1000 block of Barbara Street without permission from Vesta Management. She was cited and escorted off the property with orders not to return again. Friday, June 18 1:17 a.m. — Lorain Boulevard, warrant service. Claude McCall, 59, Lorain, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant through the Lorain Police Department following a traffic stop. He also was cited with driving under noncompliance suspension and a taillight violation, both misdemeanors. Thursday, June 17 9:06 p.m. — Bon Air Avenue, warrant service. Chase Cassady, 24, Bon Air Avenue, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in Elyria Municipal Court in a 2019 misdemeanor traffic case. 5:44 p.m. — North Ridge Road, warrant service. Jozzie Mendiola, 19, Lorain, was arrested on two bench warrants through Elyria Municipal Court in two 2021 criminal cases. 2:34 p.m. — Cleveland Street and state Route 57, operating a vehicle impaired. Crista Lou Boggs, 24, 12th Street, was arrested on felony obstruction and assault on a law enforcement officer charges and misdemeanor DUI, driving under suspension, driving an unsafe vehicle and resisting arrest charges. Following a traffic crash in which she was at fault, Boggs refused to comply with officers' commands and kicked Officer Paige Mitchell, who twice used her stun gun on Boggs to get her into custody. Boggs was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for evaluation, refused chemical tests though she admitted smoking both marijuana and methamphetamine and was taken to Lorain County Jail. 2 p.m. — Speedway, Lorain Boulevard, warrant service. Tabitha Burgess, 30, Huron Street, was arrested on a bench warrant through the State Highway Patrol. Burgess was identified as a shoplifter by employees of the gas station at 895 Lorain Blvd., and she handed over a Red Bull drink she had placed in her pants. Burgess was banned from the store and was taken to Lorain County Jail to be held until troopers could take custody. 12:59 p.m. — North Ridge Road, warrant service. Jermaine Powell, 35, Lorain, was arrested on two warrants through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2019 criminal case and a 2020 criminal case.
