Elyria police blotter for June 6-8, 2021

Elyria police Tuesday, June 8 12:50 a.m. — Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, warrant service. Madeline Meholic, 24, East River Street, was arrested on a bench warrant through Elyria Municipal Court on felony heroin possession and theft charges. An Elyria officer took custody of Meholic from North Ridgeville police and she was taken to Lorain County Jail. 2:47 a.m. — Lorain County Jail, warrant service. Cynthia Bailey, 33, Lorain, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant for failure to appear in Elyria Municipal Court in a 2015 misdemeanor theft case. Monday, June 7 2:15 a.m. — 10th Street alley, obstructing. Jasper Kennedy, 29, High Street; Christopher Parker, 52, Cleveland; and Timothy Beckman, 55, 10th Street, were arrested: Parker on two bench warrants through Elyria Municipal Court in two 2021 criminal cases as well as on misdemeanor charges of obstructing official business and possession of dangerous drugs, Kennedy on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing official business, and Beckman on a bench warrant through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2021 traffic case. Officers investigating a reported break in found three men — Parker, Kennedy and Chalmas Barnett Jr., 48, East Avenue — inside a garage in the 300 block of 10th Street. Parker lied and said his name was "Ed Johnson," age 49, and Kennedy said his name was "Timothy James Blair White Jr.," age 29, from Tennessee. Two pills identified as a prescription muscle relaxer were found in Parker's pocket. Barnett was released without charges, while Parker and Kennedy were taken to Lorain County Jail. Beckman, a resident of the neighborhood who pointed the men out to police, was released with a summons to appear in court June 9. 10:12 a.m. — Apples, theft. An employee of the store at 250 Cleveland St. reported an unknown Black male in his mid-50s wearing a blue face mask, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 inches tall and between 150 and 170 pounds wearing a long blue jacket, tan pants and a black T-shirt with writing on the front put seven or eight porterhouse steaks down his pants and left the store without paying. The suspect then left the parking lot in a silver vehicle. 10:18 p.m. — Elyria Police Department, warrant service. Michael Ksenich, 29, West River Road South, turned himself in to police on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2018 criminal case. He was issued a summons to appear in court June 9 and released. Sunday, June 6 5:20 p.m. — Avon Belden Road and Royalton Road, Grafton, warrant service. Chad Gallagher, 49, Howard Street, was arrested on two bench warrants through Elyria Municipal Court in two 2021 cases, including a felony drug possession charge and a misdemeanor DUI charge. An officer met Medina County sheriff's deputies at a convenience store in Grafton to take custody of Gallagher, and the was taken to Lorain County Jail. 4:52 p.m. — Barbara Street, disturbance. Toyota Glinsey, 49, Barbara Street, was arrested on a misdemeanor aggravated menacing charge. Officers responding to a large fight involving a reported 20 to 30 people learned that Glinsey had waved a hammer at her neighbors after an argument. The incident was caught on video. Glinsey was taken to Lorain County Jail. 3:53 p.m. — West River Road North, warrant service. Jeffrey Marcum, 55, homeless, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2021 criminal case. He was handed over to Elyria police custody by Lorain police and taken to Lorain County Jail. 9:13 a.m. — Lowes, Midway Boulevard, failure to comply. Ronald Adkins Jr., 48, Parma, was arrested on felony charges of tampering with evidence and possession of cocaine, and Dynesty Smith, 28, Cleveland, was arrested on a warrant through the Cleveland Police Department. Police also issued warrants for Jason Ellis, 50, Cleveland, on felony failure to comply and obstruction charges and misdemeanor reckless operation, turns at intersection and failure to reinstate violations. An officer saw Ellis' red 2014 GMC SUV make an illegal turn from the center lane of state Route 57 onto Midway Boulevard and stop in the Lowes parking lot. Ellis, Adkins, Smith and another woman were inside and Ellis gave an officer a fake name. Ordered to turn off the engine, Ellis instead sped off through the parking lot, putting pedestrians in danger. Adkins and Smith bailed out of the car before it exited the lot but Ellis kept driving, running red lights and heading for Interstate 90. Police halted the chase after it exceeded speeds of 100 mph on the highway. A rock of crack cocaine weighing 0.1 grams and a shattered glass pipe were found in the parking lot near where the vehicle stopped after a witness told officers he had seen it thrown from the vehicle. Adkins and Smith were taken to Lorain County Jail. 4:01 a.m. — Lake Avenue, operating a vehicle impaired. Tanesha Taylor, 29, Morgan Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge. Officers investigating a report of a woman passed out behind the wheel of a car near the D&M Mart at 128 Lake Ave. found Taylor behind the wheel. The car had fresh scratches on it and a flat tire, and Taylor, who smelled of marijuana and alcohol, said she didn't know how the car got damaged. Taylor failed three field sobriety tests and 8.7 grams of marijuana was found in the car with her. She was booked and later released to a sober person.
