Three administrators appointed at Avon Schools

AVON — Three new administrators were appointed last week at Avon Schools, including the promotion of an elementary school principal to the assistant superintendent vacancy. Jen Fitch, currently the Avon Heritage Elementary School principal, will become the district's new assistant superintendent after that position became open when Ben Hodge was promoted to superintendent. "I am excited and honored to serve such a wonderful community with amazing students and staff in this new role," Fitch said in a statement. She has worked in Avon Schools since 2018, previously working as a principal with Elyria Schools and a teacher with Clearview Schools. Fitch has a master's degree in education from Ashland University and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Muskingum College. Hodge said Fitch brings great leadership experiences to the job. Staff and administrators "have tremendous respect for her as a person and educator and are super excited she is the assistant superintendent," he said. Also, the district's Student Services Programming Coordinator position will be filled by Anne Fox, who was awarded a three-year administrative contract for the job. This is a new position within Avon Schools. Fox currently is the director of the WestShore Ombudsman Plus program, which is located in the Avon Schools Board of Education offices. She previously was an assistant principal and administrative intern at Avon High School. Fox said in a statement that the job will include assisting with special education programs and policies, overseeing and developing Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and overseeing positive behavioral interventions and supports as well as response to intervention initiatives. She holds an administrative license from Ashland University, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor's degree in special education and reading from Ashland University. Avon Heritage Elementary School assistant principal Nora Fox, no relation to Anne Fox, will leave that position to become principal at the Avon Early Learning Center. She has been the assistant principal at Avon Heritage since 2018, following more than 15 years of teaching at Avon Lake Schools. Nora Fox said in a statement that she looks forward to meeting the staff, students and families at the Avon Early Learning Center. "As a former second-grade teacher, I'm excited to return to my primary school roots," she said. "Avon is a great place to be and I feel so fortunate to continue my career here." The hirings all were approved by the Avon Schools Board of Education.
