Bond set for 3 Elyria men arrested in Cleveland Street shooting Thursday

ELYRIA — Following their arraignments in Elyria Municipal Court on Friday, three Elyria men are being held in Lorain County Jail after a shooting on Cleveland Street that ended with a short car chase into North Ridgeville on Thursday. Ephraim Reed, 21, of Wesley Avenue, is charged with felonious assault, improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation and carrying a concealed weapon, and North Ridgeville police added charges of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, both misdemeanor. Reed's bond was set at $105,000. Xaviah Lovejoy, 19, of Wesley Avenue, was charged with having weapons under a disability, improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon, all felonies, and was wanted by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office for contempt of court. He was being held on $70,000 bond. Fred Golson, 20, of Winckles Street, is charged with felonies including having weapons under a disability, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation and carrying a concealed weapon. North Ridgeville police also charged him with misdemeanors including obstructing official business and resisting arrest, according to jail records. His bond was set at $100,000. Elyria police said shots were fired in the area of Blue Sky Restaurant on Cleveland Street at 2:40 p.m. Thursday and that a blue Ford Focus fled the scene, headed east toward North Ridgeville. No one was injured in the shooting. North Ridgeville police gave chase and the car crashed near Mills Road. All three men were arrested and a fourth person in the car was not charged but taken to a hospital after the crash, Elyria police said. Lovejoy already was facing felony charges after a Lorain County grand jury indicted him in November on charges of felonious assault, discharge of firearms on prohibited premises, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school zone. Lovejoy pleaded not guilty to those charges and was free on bond with court-supervised release, electronic monitoring and a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew ordered by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Chris Cook, according to court records.
