Elyria hosting Engaged Elyrian Week

Elyria is hosting an Engaged Elyrian Week to encourage residents to participate in community dialogue around transportation, learn about ways to get involved and apply to work for various departments in the city. Details and registration links for each event is available at cityofelyria.org/engage. From noon to 3 p.m. April 12, there will be a Frank Conversation with Mayor Frank Whitfield via Zoom and phone. Register at cityofelyria.org/engage for a 15-minute time slot. Times are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. From noon to 1:15 p.m. April 13, there will be a third community chat over the Active Transportation Plan via Zoom and Facebook Live. Participants will review proposed solutions through the developing Active Transportation Plan, and help to prioritize each project. Registration is required. Participants can learn about community development corporations and its functions, the current progress towards the goal of establishing an Elyria CDC including details about the existing steering, events, governance, and downtown development committees, as well as dedicated time to ask relevant questions or share feedback. Register at elyriacdc.eventbrite.com. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. April 17, there will be a virtual city career fair. Registration is required. The city is looking for a human resources director, community development project manager, project engineer, police officer — lateral transfer, information technology technicians, camp counselors and camp director.
