Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville police blotters for March 1- 8, 2021

Avon police Wednesday, March 3 11:03 p.m. — 32900 block block Detroit Road, assault. An assault charge was pending against a 54-year-old Lorain woman after police were called to Avon Place Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation to investigate an incident. Saturday, March 6 2:15 a.m. — 33500 block Just Imagine Drive, operating vehicle while impaired. Police were called to the GetGo gas station for a possible drunken driver. A 31-year-old Bay Village man was identified and arrested for OVI, OVI with breath 0.17 percent or greater and a reasonable control violation. Sunday, March 7 1:01 a.m. — Stoney Ridge Road and Kinzel Road, operating vehicle while impaired. A 39-year-old Avon woman was pulled over by police and arrested for OVI, OVI with breath between 0.08 and 0.169 percent and failure to drive within lanes or continuous lines of traffic. Avon Lake police Monday, March 1 3:58 p.m. — Avon Lake Police Department, fraud. A 60-year-old Avon Lake woman went to the police station to report alleged fraudulent activity involving her retirement account, but no monetary loss had occurred at that time. Thursday, March 4 6:22 a.m. — Bay Hill Drive and Legacy Pointe Parkway, disorderly conduct. Police were called to Bay Hill Drive for the report of a man passed out in the street. The subject was a 57-year-old Avon Lake man, who was found to be intoxicated and transported to the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital for evaluation. He was also cited with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Friday, March 5 10:17 a.m. — 32800 block Electric Boulevard, lost and found property. An Avon Lake Service Department employee found a Bluetooth radio speaker in Bleser Park and turned it in to police. The speaker was placed into evidence for safekeeping after police tried finding the owner on Facebook. Monday, March 8 12:40 p.m. — 32100 block Electric Boulevard, animal complaint. While walking her dog, a 60-year-old Avon Lake woman was attacked by another small dog that had broken its lead. She suffered a bite on the leg. The owner of the small dog was cited with a dog-at-large violation. North Ridgeville police Thursday, March 4 3:28 p.m. — 32700 block Lorain Road, prostitution. As the result of a joint operation of police, the Lorain County Prosecutor's Office and the regional human trafficking task force, a 50-year-old Cleveland man was charged with soliciting prostitution at Motel 6. 6:16 p.m. — 32700 block Lorain Road, prostitution. While surveilling Motel 6 for possible prostitution activity, North Ridgeville police saw a man drop off a woman, who promised to engage in sexual conduct with an undercover police officer. The 37-year-old Cleveland woman and 48-year-old Cleveland man who dropped her off were both arrested on prostitution-related charges. 7:32 p.m. — 32700 block Lorain Road, prostitution. A 23-year-old Strongsville woman was arrested for a prostitution offense at Motel 6. Friday, March 5 5:12 p.m. — 36500 block Schafer Drive, theft. A North Ridgeville woman reported that a temporary tag had apparently been stolen from her vehicle. Saturday, March 6 1:12 a.m. — 33600 block Center Ridge Road, operating vehicle while impaired. An officer saw a 54-year-old Elyria man urinating in the Snappy Gas parking lot. The man was arrested for OVI and OVI with breath between 0.08 and 0.169 percent following an investigation. 10:42 a.m. — 6400 block Ridge Plaza Drive, missing person. After a search, an elderly woman who had walked away from her home was located in the backyard of a nearby residence. Sunday, March 7 5:07 p.m. — 32700 block Lorain Road, possession of drug paraphernalia. Police were called to the Speedway gas station for the report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle at a gas pump. The 29-year-old Illinois man was conscious and awake when officers arrived, but a glass smoking pipe was found in his pocket, leading to him being arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
