Elyria police blotter for Oct 5-7, 2020

Elyria police Monday, Oct. 5 10:42 a.m. — Salvation Army, Cleveland Street, lost/found property. A 31-year-old Elyria woman reported she went shopping at the Salvation Army Store at 167 Cleveland St. with her two children and while there, her 8-year-old daughter left an Android tablet in the shopping cart. The woman went back to the store but was unable to find the tablet. 3:07 p.m. — Burger King, Broad Street, forgery. A manager at the Burger King, 616 Broad St., called police to report a counterfeit $50 was passed by a light-skinned Black male in his 20s with an Afro hair style, approximately 6 feet 2 to 6 feet 5 inches tall wearing a dark-colored jacket and jeans around 3 p.m. The bill clearly said "Motion Picture Purposes" on it and the manager told the man she was calling police. He then asked for the bill back "to return to his brother." The man left the restaurant walking toward West Avenue. The counterfeit money was seized and police put photos of the suspect on their Facebook page for help in identifying him. 7:28 p.m. — Virginia Avenue, suspicious activity. A 48-year-old Virginia Avenue resident reported her son was home alone while she was at work when an unknown man pulled on and broke the doorknob of their home. The man had been seen in a black Dodge Ram truck as well as in a white Dodge Ram truck, and the woman also said she had seen the man while shopping at Walmart and behind her in a drive-thru on Broad Street. He was described as white, bald, approximately 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11 inches tall, 300 pounds with no tattoos and no facial hair. The woman gave police the license plate numbers on both trucks. Her doorknob had been pulled through the security plate and a locksmith was called to fix it. Tuesday, Oct. 6 6:32 p.m. — Connecticut Drive, domestic violence, David Pavilack, 67, of the 200 block of Connecticut Drive, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Officers reportedly learned that Pavilack's wife, 67, had called his marijuana dealer and canceled his order. This caused the two to argue and Pavilack back-hand slapped his wife in the face. Pavilack said he accidentally tripped and struck her as a result. The victim declined medical attention and Pavilack was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:26 p.m. — Bohannon Court, assault. Rachael Davidson, 35, of Pratt Boulevard, was arrested on misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges. Officers responding to a complaint of a woman spitting on a juvenile reportedly learned Davidson had gotten into an argument with several children in the 100 block of Pratt Boulevard, then yelled at them and spit directly in a 7-year-old boy's face. Davidson said the children threw something at her door and threatened her, and admitted spitting in the boy's face. Davidson was identified by the victim and taken to the Lorain County Jail. Wednesday, Oct. 7 12:04 a.m. — Infirmary Road and Allen Street, possession of drugs. Cenu Glover Jr., 26, and Chayonna Thompson, 19, both of Lorain, were arrested — Glover on felony cocaine trafficking and drug possession charges and Thompson on misdemeanor falsification, underage consumption of alcohol, driving under suspension, stop sign and seat belt violations as well as a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. Officers working security at Westway Gardens apartments saw a black Chrysler 200 speeding south on Barbara Street and fail to stop at a stop sign at Barbara and Allen streets before turning east onto Allen. Thompson reportedly first identified herself as "Deona Cannon," age 20, but she could not provide a driver's license or Social Security number. Cannon/Thompson also was intoxicated, failed three sobriety tests and kept asking why officers were calling her "Deona" before admitting her real name. Thompson could not provide an adequate breath sample for testing and was handed over to a deputy sheriff to be taken to the Lorain County Jail on the warrant. An officer also found a clear plastic bag containing eight separate bags of suspected cocaine weighing a total of 0.8 grams and a larger bag containing 2.8 grams of suspected heroin next to where Glover was sitting. Glover reportedly told officers "Everything you find in the car is mine" and was issued a citation and released with a court date on Oct. 7.
