Elyria Catholic football coach Brian Fox named athletic director

ELYRIA — Elyria Catholic's football coach will be taking on an additional role with the school. Brian Fox was named athletic director Wednesday morning, replacing Jack Duffy, who resigned in August. Assistant Principal Tom Taylor had filled the role on an interim basis. Fox, hired in 2018 to replace Dave Stupka, will continue to be the football coach. In his first year as coach, the Panthers went 9-3 and Fox was the Lorain County Coach of the Year, Great Lakes Conference Coach of the Year and Ohio Division 5 Coach of the Year. He has compiled a record of 19-9 with the Panthers. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Fox also currently assists EC students as an aide in the classroom. In a news release, Principal Suzanne Lester said Fox brings to his new role both positive leadership and a vision to advance the athletic program. She said she appreciates Fox's passion for EC's athletic program and his commitment to developing student-athletes. "Brian is relationship-driven," she said. "He will bring a lot of excitement and enthusiasm to EC athletics. His leadership, communication style, and dedication to advancing EC athletics will resonate with the school's coaches, student-athletes, and loyal fan base." Prior to his employment at Elyria Catholic, Fox worked at Heidelberg University as the pass game coordinator, quarterback coach and strength and conditioning coordinator. Prior to Heidelberg, Fox worked at Illinois College as the offensive skill coach and strength and conditioning coordinator. Fox, a Huron High School graduate, earned a bachelor's degree from Baldwin Wallace University and a master's degree from American Public University. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
