Edward J. Suggs

Edward J. Suggs, known to many as "Ole School" or Ed, was born January 15, 1964. He was the eldest of 12 siblings and had been a lifelong resident of Lorain. He departed this life suddenly Friday, August 7, 2020.Ed graduated from Lorain Admiral King in 1982 and enjoyed playing all sports, primarily basketball. He enjoyed listening to ole' school R&B, hanging out with his family and riding his Yamaha motorcycle. He was a dedicated member of the motorcycle club Sophisticated Gents.Ed was employed by Ford Motor Company (Avon), where he worked as an assembly line worker. He also had a lengthy career at The Murray Ridge Center Lorain and Lorain Products. During his employment and in the community, Ed forged many relationships; he loved people and had a big heart for those who may have found themselves in a hurting situation. He was known for making people laugh to make them feel better.Ed is survived by his children: daughters, Shanika Suggs Miles of Hampton, Virginia, DanYelle Suggs of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Aysia Wilson of Belleville, Illinois, Aliyah Caporini of Huron, Octavia Snipes, Tiara Suggs (Jeremy Coleman) and Edrianna Suggs, all of Lorain; sons, Dominique McGee, Terran Suggs, both of Lorain and Grayson Suggs of Oberlin; his mother, Bettie J. (Sonny) Capers; fiancee, Stacy Lee of Elyria; sisters, Altheda (Marc) Bradley of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Vernett (Conrad) Suggs-Scott of Oakley, California, Shana Suggs of San Francisco, California, Evelyn Suggs-Johnson of Stockton, California, Elshia Suggs of Conway, South Carolina and Elyissa Richardson of Martinsville, Virginia; brothers, Songhai Ali (Pookie) Capers of Lorain, Andre (Dyana) Benton of Martinsville, Virginia and Ethon Suggs of Columbia, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; an aunt, Vernette (Kennon) Suggs Redd of Martinsville, Virginia and a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his son, Tederian Wilson; daughter, Natasha McCaskall; brother, Joseph Suggs; father, Elmer John Henry Suggs; paternal grandmother, Carrie Alfrieda Norman; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Jo Betty Robinson.There will be a walk-through viewing Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a private family service at New Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2340 Crehore Street, Lorain.
