Police: Couple high on drugs stab each other at Elyria motel (UPDATED)

Editor's Note: A Lorain County grand jury refused to indict Joshua Pitzer and Sarah Gose on felony charges in connection with this case in July 2020. ELYRIA — A couple doing drugs at a Lorain Boulevard motel got into a knife fight early Friday and were arrested after cutting each other, according to Elyria police. Joshua Pitzer, 32, of Homer Street, and Sarah Gose, 28, of Wakeman, were arrested on charges of felonious assault. Both were being held at Lorain County Jail on $25,000 bond apiece following their arraignments in Elyria Municipal Court on Friday. According to Elyria police, at 12:02 a.m. Friday officers were called to Journey Inn at 888 Lorain Blvd. after a man called dispatchers to say he had been robbed and stabbed with a knife. Officers found Pitzer standing on the second floor of the motel covered in blood. He said the stabbing happened in Room 212 and that he was the one who was stabbed. Pitzer was ordered to the ground at gunpoint, at which time Gose ran out of the room, also covered in blood. LifeCare responded to treat Gose and Pitzer. There was blood all over the bathroom in Room 212 and a small pocket knife was found on the floor, according to a police report. Pitzer said Gose is his girlfriend and that she was getting high on heroin before she got up to leave. He did not try to stop her, but she became "agitated" and cut his with the knife, he told police. Pitzer, who suffered a small cut to his right ring finger, then grabbed the knife and went after Gose, who got a cut on her left pinky. Pitzer then threw the knife in the bathroom and called police, according to the report. Gose told police she and Pitzer bought a bad batch of methamphetamine and were smoking it when Pitzer became upset, got the knife and began attacking her with it. She said she threw the knife in the bathroom and then ran out of the room to get away from Pitzer. Both Gose and Pitzer were "extremely high on drugs," police said, possibly from a mixture of heroin, meth and LSD. Both were taken to Lorain County Jail, where Gose became hostile toward corrections officers after being told her finger would need stitches, police said.
