North Ridgeville Corn Festival canceled this year

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — The Corn Festival Committee, which has been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic, has decided to cancel the 2020 festival. The free festival, with entertainment, games, a corn eating contest, a parade and fireworks, is held annually on the second weekend in August. "Our concern has always been for the safety of our attendees. Due to the high degree of uncertainty about what the coming months will hold and in the best interest of the general public, our volunteers, vendors, entertainers, it is with great sadness that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year's North Ridgeville Corn Festival that was scheduled for August 7 to 9," organizers wrote. "Everyone is deeply disappointed with the cancellation of the festival as the festival has been the highlight of the summer in the city of North Ridgeville for 45 years," the committee announced Friday. "We know that families and businesses plan their attendance at the festival months in advance and we wanted to get our decision out as early as possible to help with their planning." The festival will be back for its 46th year Aug. 13-15, 2021, the committee said. The festival website is www.nrcornfest.org. "We would like to thank all of our sponsors, volunteers, and the community of North Ridgeville for their past support and look forward to seeing them at the 2021 North Ridgeville Corn Festival," the committee said.
