Hazel E. Sparks Paluch

Hazel E. Sparks Paluch, 80, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 after a long battle with dementia. She was one of 14 children born to the late Richard and Ivory Wells Sparks on August 8, 1939 in Lick Creek, Kentucky.Hazel's education started in a one room schoolhouse in Kentucky before her family moved to LaGrange. She then attended Keystone High School from which she graduated in 1957. Hazel met James R. Paluch in 1955. They were married August 31, 1957 in Wellington and had 61 wonderful years together before his passing in May of 2018.Together they raised two children, James D. (Beth) Paluch of Williamsburg, Massachusetts and Debbie (Mike) Turner of Caldwell, Ohio.Hazel started her working career as a waitress at Mill's Restaurant in Cleveland, where she would have to walk late at night to catch a bus at the Terminal Tower. She stayed at home for many years to raise her two children before working as a quality control manager for a number of years at Pipe Fittings, Inc. in Wellington.Hazel loved her fellowship with God, her family and her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her two grandsons. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing and she was well known for her cabbage rolls and nut rolls at family get-togethers and holidays.Besides her children, Hazel is survived by her sisters, Bea Sturgill, Martha Krupar, Minnie Gross, Jean (Jim) Stewart and Barb (William) Watters; her brothers, George, John, James, David and Ivan Sparks; her grandchildren, James J. (Amanda) Paluch of Amherst, Massachusetts and Andrew Paluch of Rutland, Vermont and many very special nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and spouse, Hazel was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Mouzon and Ruby Wegter; brother, Lonnie Ray Sparks; grandson, Michael J.
