Additional charges filed in shooting that killed teen

ELYRIA — Additional charges have been filed in the shooting that killed a 17-year-old boy Sunday morning. Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino said the shooter in the incident, also 17, has been charged with reckless homicide after detectives met with prosecutors from the Lorain County Prosecutor's Office. The teen previously had been charged with tampering with evidence, with a gun specification. Costantino said the investigation is ongoing, but that there's no plan for additional charges for the shooter at this time. According to a news release, Brandon Bruce, 17, of Elyria, was shot dead after sustaining a gun wound to the face. Police responded to the shooting on the 100 block of Furnace Street on Sunday morning. Police later said Brandon was visiting the home, and that he and the 17-year-old shooter were friends. Multiple people were taken from the scene to be interviewed by detectives and evidence was collected from the scene. Costantino said the investigation is ongoing.
